Duke Tennis Camp Information

Facilities

The Ambler Tennis Stadium is the hub of Duke Tennis Camp activity. We use the 12 laykold courts of the Ambler Tennis Complex and the 10 laykold courts of the East Campus Tennis Complex in conjunction with the 6 indoor courts of the Sheffield Tennis Center. Campers will be shuttled between facilities by van. Campers are housed in dormitories near the West Campus courts and dine for breakfast and lunch in the West Union Building. Our dinners are catered near the dorms.

Official Team Hat and Visor

Camp
MerchandiseOfficial hats and visors of the Duke Tennis Team are available for purchase. The white cotton twill cap is embroidered in navy. Items purchased one month prior to camp will be ready for pick up at check-in.

Activities

Our evenings are reserved for fun activities with an occasional lecture or optional court session. Campers enjoy the opportunity to relax and socialize as a group. Evening events may include Capture the Flag, Crazy Olympic Sports, trips to the student activity center on campus, movie rentals, and campus tours. Campers are fully supervised at all times.

An off campus activity such as a Durham Bulls game or a movie may be an evening option for a nominal fee. Campers are fully supervised at all times. Parents must submit a signed and completed Permission Form for residential campers to be eligible to participate in off-campus activities.

Dates

Ages

All sessions are open to boys and girls ages 8 through 18. Duke Tennis Camp recommends residential campers be age 10 or above. Please use parental discretion.

Skill Level

Please note that the skill level noted for your camper is a starting point for the coaches to group kids based on ability. On the first day of camp, the coaches will further evaluate campers to form groups of similar ability. For example, within “intermediate” there will be a number of courts that vary by ability. We strongly suggest that beginner campers have some experience making contact with the ball and with basic rules and scoring procedures.
